I recently wrote about how we plan the best date nights. We love using dates as a reason to explore our town and the Plaza District is such a great place to do that! If you’re looking for an easy, inexpensive night that checks all the boxes (dinner, shopping, entertainment, dessert!) within a couple blocks, a Plaza District date night is the way to go!
There are some fantastic places to eat in the Plaza District. Our favorites are Empire Slice House and New State Burgers. Empire Slice House has delicious, New York-style pizza with some really innovative flavors. We haven’t tried a single one that we haven’t loved! I feel confident in saying that New State Burgers has the best burger in town. Do yourself a favor and get the cheese tots (and ask to add some of the cheese to your burger!). You won’t regret it.
We love looking in all the neat shops around the Plaza District. Folk Life and DNA Galleries are our favorites. Folk Life has a great collection of decor, jewelry, and clothing from all over the world. DNA Galleries offers art in a variety of different forms and price points. Jon has gotten several gifts for me from here over the years and I’ve loved them all!
Our favorite activities for a Plaza District Date Night are strolling around to look at the Plaza Walls and taking in a show at OKC Improv. Plaza Walls is a collection of many murals in one walkable (and well-lit) alley. These are great if you’re completing the OKC Selfie Scavenger Hunt! OKC Improv has a fun group of comedians who create a completely original show from scratch every night! There’s plenty of audience involvement too!
You’ve got two great dessert options for your Plaza District date night. The first is Roxy’s Ice Cream Social. They’ve got a great selection of flavors served up in a friendly and adorable environment. If you’re looking for something a little more unusual, Pie Junkie is your spot. Buy a slice or two to share and it’s the perfect ending to a great night out!
