Sometimes you end up with a weekend that has no plans and want to make some fast. If you’re looking for quick last-minute adventures, I’ve got you covered! I also know some of you are looking for adventures that keep you socially distant from strangers and these would fit that bill too. Here are five fun things we’ve done in the last few months! Share your favorite ideas for similar adventures in the comments!
Selfie Scavenger Hunt

As far as last-minute adventures go I think this is the most fun. If you haven’t done the OKC Selfie Scavenger Hunt yet, what are you waiting for?? It’s a great way to spend a couple hours and you’ll have a blast finding your favorite locations to check off the boxes on the list! Head out first thing in the morning and you’ll likely have these locations to yourself! Taking family photos while you’re out and about is such a fun way to make memories, so if you need more ideas of where to do that make sure you check out my post about the Best Family Photo Locations Around OKC!
Mural Hunting

One of my favorite things about living in OKC is how many amazing murals there are all over town! The Plaza Walls are fantastic and regularly change, but there are some other wonderful murals if you just know where to look. Drive around downtown with the family and hop out to take pictures with your favorites! Pro Tip: This is a great activity for a weekday afternoon or a Sunday morning because the buildings aren’t as likely to have cars parked in front of the murals so you can get the best pictures!
Picnicking

Having a family picnic is one of our favorite last-minute adventures. It’s a great way to get out of the house and it doesn’t have to be fancy! Slap together some PBJs, throw some baby carrots in a Ziplock, grab your water bottles and a blanket and go! Our favorite places to picnic so far are Freedom Trail Park in Yukon, Grand Boulevard Park in Nichols Hills, and Will Rogers Gardens. They both have plenty of shade and are very large, so there’s lots of space to play without bumping into anyone.
Hiking

Oklahoma has some amazing hiking trails. We’ve found a lot of them using the All Trails app and some of our other favorite Adventure Planning Tools. Our kids are currently 5, 3, and 1 and we’ve found plenty of trails in the OKC area that are great for hiking with them or even to go out on our own. Our favorites are Martin Nature Park and Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge.
Exploring Myriad Gardens

There’s so much to see at Myriad Gardens. We love taking a stroll around the gardens and letting the kids run. It’s a beautiful and popular place for family photos as well, so grab the camera and take some of your own while you’re there!
Bonus Adventure! Farmers Markets!
If you’re looking for something to do on a Saturday from April to October, make sure you check out my favorite Farmers Markets around OKC!
